Exam & Certification
- Study the PMBOK® Guide (Project Management Body of Knowledge), which is the primary reference for the PMP exam.
- Consider enrolling in a PMP exam preparation course or using study materials such as practice exams, study guides, and online resources.
- Create an account on the PMI website (https://www.pmi.org/).
- Submit your PMP application online, providing details about your education and project management experience.
- PMI will review your application within a few days and notify you of its approval.
- Once your application is approved, you will receive instructions on how to pay the exam fee.
- PMI members usually receive a discount on the exam fee compared to non-members.
- After paying the exam fee, you will receive an eligibility ID.
- Visit the Pearson VUE website (https://home.pearsonvue.com/pmi) to schedule your PMP exam at a testing center near you.
- Choose a date and time that suits your schedule.
- On the scheduled exam day, arrive at the testing center with a government-issued photo ID.
- The PMP exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions to be completed within a four-hour time frame.
- After completing the exam, you will receive an immediate pass/fail result on the computer screen.
- If you pass, you will receive a printed copy of your test report before leaving the testing center.
- The PMP certification is valid for three years.
- To maintain your certification, earn and report 60 professional development units (PDUs) during the three-year cycle.
- PDUs can be earned through various project management-related activities, such as continuing education, training, and professional contributions.
